About Me

Who I am...

Hi, I’m Sarah — teacher, tutor, author… and the calm voice your child didn’t know they needed.

I’ve been teaching for 14 years; from busy primary classrooms to leading English across a school, and now working with families all over the world through Primary Path Education. Somewhere along the way, I realised something important: children don’t always struggle because they “can’t do it,” sometimes  they struggle because they haven’t been taught in the right way for them.

That’s where I come in.

My approach is simple: First, we calm things down (because no child learns well when they’re overwhelmed). Then we make everything crystal clear, step by step (even really advanced stuff) and finally, we build that all-important confidence so your child can tackle things independently – without the tears, the frustration, or the “I just don’t get it” moments.

I specialise primary education and KS3 (up to Year 9). I mainly help children prepare for SATs and entrance exams, but more importantly, I help them actually understand what they’re doing. Not memorising. Not guessing. Proper understanding that sticks.

Over the past few years, I’ve worked with thousands of students achieve a wide range of goals. I have a 99% pass rate for the 11+ and 100% for 7+! As strange as it sounds, I absolutely love preparing children for exams as it’s a chance to do things differently. To take away the stress and pressure of endless test papers and to teach high-quality, interactive lessons that get real results.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me creating resources (there’s always another workbook in progress), walking my very opinionated husky, exploring Sweden with my daughter and fiancé or travelling to beautiful places.

If you’re looking for calm, clear, specialised teaching – you’re in the right corner of the internet.

What is the Calm and Confident Method?

The Calm and Confident Method is built on a simple belief: children learn best when they feel calm, understand clearly, and grow in confidence step by step.

Too often, children are expected to jump straight to confidence without the important bits that come first. It’s a bit like asking someone to ride a bike before showing them where the pedals are.

Calm Learning and panic do not make a great team. If a child feels overwhelmed, frustrated, or worried about getting things wrong, their brain is busy surviving rather than learning.
We start by reducing pressure, creating a warm atmosphere, and helping children feel settled and ready to try.

Clear - Once a child feels calm, real learning can begin. Teaching is broken down carefully, explained properly, and modelled step by step. No mystery methods. No “just do it like this.” No pretending they understand while secretly wondering what on earth is going on.
Confident - Confidence grows naturally when children feel safe and start to understand. It isn’t forced, and it certainly doesn’t come from being told to “just believe in yourself.” It comes from small wins, genuine progress, and realising, Actually… I can do this.

The Result - Children become happier learners, more willing to have a go, and far less frightened of making mistakes. They begin to trust themselves, enjoy learning again, and make stronger progress along the way.

Calm first. Clear teaching next. Confidence follows.
